About
The Web is now a vast and wonderful place full of information, products and tools. Most of us have a search engine as our 'start page', so that we can quickly start searching the web. We've grown to love sites like Google, MSN and Yahoo, and they've extended their functionality so we can search for images and videos too. But that's not enough, many of us now have a dozen or so bookmarks for the sites we use regularly, almost daily. The thing is, we usually 'search' these sites too: Amazon for books and DVDs, eBay for bargains, Facebook for people, YouTube for video clips, Wikipedia for facts, etc.
We desperately wanted a single start page where we could type in what we were looking for and then quickly get search results from the top sites and best resources. We searched high and low, and found many 'meta search' webpages, all completely missing the point. We wanted an all in one search page, so Ultrasearchula was born.
What's so special about Ultrasearchula then?
You might think it's rubbish, but here are our reasons for being proud of it:
- It is a clean and tidy page - kinda like Google used to be
- It is easy to start using, yet has advanced tailoring features for established users
- It can be controlled with just a few strokes of the keyboard
- It can be used on many portable devices such as the Apple iPhone Ipod Touch and Windows Mobile
- It was lovingly crafted by our fair and dainty programming hands
What's next?
We are currently running this as beta, so please feedback, via the FAQ page, on your experiences with Ultrasearchula. We will be refining and adding to the list of sites in each category whilst in beta state, and tweaking the overall experience.
We plan to develop a graphical iPhone style version in the near future, and an official iGoogle Gadget version will be released soon.
